Precision Machining Services — Tight-Tolerance CNC Parts
Precision machining produces parts to close, repeatable tolerances using CNC mills and lathes. At Traxis, we review your drawing requirements, machine the parts in our Austin shop, and check them before shipment. Request a quote online for prototype or production quantities.
Upload your drawing to our customer portal — then track status, messages and reorders in one place.
What is precision machining?
Precision machining is a subtractive manufacturing process that removes material from a block or bar of stock to create a part within specified dimensional limits. Those limits define how much a feature may vary while still meeting the drawing requirements for fit and function.
Traxis delivers precision machined parts using CNC milling and turning, backed by in-process and final inspection. Achievable tolerances depend on the material, geometry, feature size, and measurement method. Include the dimensions, datums, and surface-finish requirements that matter to your part so we can review feasibility before quoting.
Precision machining processes we use
CNC Milling
3-axis and multi-setup milling for prismatic parts, pockets, profiles, and precise bores.
CNC Turning
Turning, facing, boring, and threading for accurate round and shaft-type parts.
Deburring & Inspection
Deburring and dimensional inspection against your drawing before parts ship.
Drawing Requirements & Inspection
We check parts during machining and before shipment against the drawing requirements. Include inspection reports, material certifications, and any first-article requirements in your RFQ so we can confirm the documentation and inspection scope before you order.
- Drawing tolerances and critical dimensions reviewed before quoting
- Include datums, GD&T, and surface-finish callouts in your RFQ
- In-process checks during the run, plus final inspection on every order
- First-article requirements reviewed as part of the quote
- Request material certifications before ordering so sourcing can account for them
Materials for precision machined parts
We machine metals and engineering plastics. Specify the material grade and condition in your RFQ; these affect machining, tolerances, and cost.
Aluminum · Stainless & carbon steels · Tool steels · Titanium · Brass & bronze · Delrin, nylon, PEEK, UHMW
Materials we machineApplications & industries
We make precision parts for industrial and automation equipment, machinery, oil & gas, robotics and hardware, and product development — from single prototypes to ongoing production runs.
Include any application-specific inspection or documentation requirements in your RFQ so we can confirm whether the job is a fit.
Precision machining FAQ
Precision machining is a subtractive process that removes material to produce parts held to tight, repeatable tolerances using CNC mills and lathes. It is used wherever fit, function, and consistency are critical.
Achievable tolerances depend on material, geometry, feature size, and inspection requirements. Include tolerances and critical dimensions on your drawing so we can review feasibility before quoting.
It comes down to tolerance, inspection, and repeatability. Precision machining works to closer tolerances and verifies them with inspection, so parts come back consistent batch after batch.
Aluminum, stainless and carbon steels, tool steels, titanium, brass and bronze, and engineering plastics such as Delrin, nylon, and PEEK — plus customer-supplied and specialty stock.
